LeBron James’s effort to trademark the term ‘Taco Tuesday’ has been denied by the US Patent and Trademark Office, but a spokesman for the Los Angeles Lakers star has insisted the ruling was somewhat welcome.
The department denied James’ company, explaining that the phrase ‘Taco Tuesday’ is a ‘commonplace term.’
‘The applied-for mark is a commonplace term, message, or expression widely used by a variety of sources that merely conveys an ordinary, familiar, well-recognized concept or sentiment message,’ the USPTO wrote.
