‘The Strangers:Prey at Night’ Movie Review

I was so excited when I first heard of the making of this movie. 10 years ago saw the release of the movie The Strangers. This being one of the best horror movies of all time. On Terrific Top 10’s list of the Top 10 Horror movies it came in #3 as well as #3 for Top 10 Horror Movie Masks.

Then came The Strangers : Prey at Night. The movie was released on March 9th. It received 38% on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.4 on IMDB, which is probably a very generous score. I love horror movies and have pretty much seen every horror out there – good and bad. The Strangers : Prey at Night definitely fits the bad category. There was no real scare or dread just your average slasher from one character to the next. The paths the main characters took were so baffling, I was left screaming “Why would you do that”, it was baffling as no person would act like that given the situation in real life. One critic summed this movie up perfectly, “would-be killers chasing around would-be victims with sharp objects”.

I could have sworn the two The Strangers movies were written by different people but when looking this up I noted they were both written by Bryan Bertino. Don’t know what happened there but hopefully he will learn from his mistakes.
