In the 50-second clip, two officers restrain Emily Weinman, of Philadelphia, who said in a Facebook post she did “nothing wrong”. One of the officers is heard yelling at Weinman to “stop resisting” before the other hits her twice in the head and slams her onto her back. She says: “I’m not resisting. I didn’t do anything wrong,” as she kicks her legs at the officers. Emily Weiman was on a beach in New Jersey.

A baby – believed to be her 18-month-old daughter – can be heard crying from the sidelines. In a lengthy Facebook post, Weinman claims she was targeted by police because family and friends were drinking nearby. She said: “I asked them if they didn’t have something better to do as cops other than to stop people for underage drinking on the beach, saying to that there’s so much more serious stuff going on…

“The cop said, ‘I was gonna let you go but now I’ll write you up’ and he asked my name.  “He told me he’s arresting me and started coming towards me to put handcuffs on me.” At this point Weiman says she “tripped and fell and the cop tackled me to the ground and smashed my head into the sand”.  She said she shared the video – which has been shared more than 130,000 times online – because the “situation was handled wrongly and blew out of proportion”.
