It turns out there is a better way to crack an egg than on the side of a bowl. Chances are that if you break an egg by using the side of a bowl or pan that shards will get in your mixture. The better way to crack an egg is on a flat surface. This way the shell is not forced inwards such is the case when breaking it on the side of a small, thus there is less chance of these shards getting caught up in the egg and landing in your mixture.
