Oscar Pistorius will be released from prison next week, it has been revealed. The Olympic and Paralympic athlete is to be released on August 21, just 10 months after he was sent to prison for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013. He was sentenced to five years in prison but is being released early for ‘behaving himself very well’. According to sources he did not apply for early release but was recommended for it by the parole board at Kgosi Mampuru II prison. However, he could still face a murder trial because his case is currently with the Supreme Court and there will be an appeal hearing in November. That could lead to his conviction being upgraded to murder meaning a minimum 15-year prison sentence.
