Beau Biden, the 46-year-old son of Joe Biden, has died from brain cancer. The eldest child of the Vice President, an Iraq Veteran who served as the Attorney General of Delaware, died on Saturday evening after being taken to hospital after this month. Announcing his death in a statement, Joe Biden said his son – whom he described as ‘the finest man’ he had ever known – had battled his condition ‘with the same integrity, courage and strength he demonstrated every day of his life’.
It is the second tragedy to hit Joe Biden, after a devastating car crash killed his wife and his one-year-old daughter more than 40 years ago. The Vice President was left to bring up Beau and his older brother Hunter, both of whom were also injured in the crash.
