After seven series, Man Men fans finally learned the fate of advertising executive Don Draper as the final episode aired in the U.S. on Sunday night. The hit show ended on an high note, insinuating that instead of joining a hippie commune and finding himself, Don came up with one of the biggest advertisement slogans of the 1970s. The Madison Avenue genius returned to California where, after much soul-searching, he stumbled upon the next big slogan: ‘I’d like to buy the world a Coke.’

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner had promised fans that the finale would be true to the whole series. And just as he has drawn on historical and cultural events throughout the seven seasons of the series, he didn’t break from that pattern in the final minutes of the final episode.
