Amtrack was Traveling 100MPH in 50MPH Zone when it Crashed

A 20-year-old U.S. Naval Academy student who was heading home on leave and a 48-year-old father-of-two have been named as two of the passengers killed in last night’s deadly Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia – as reports suggest the train was traveling at 100 mph in a 50 mph speed limit.

Investigators from the Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Railroad Administration arrived on the scene on Wednesday to try to determine what had caused the deadly crash, but reports have indicated that excessive speed may have been to blame.
