Some of you may have read my previous article about Popcorn Time. If not click this link to learn more about the site. Once you know what Popcorn Time is, here is the latest update on the site, that may or may not be dead:
Since last week, the developers of the application have been hit by plenty of those legal issues they weren’t expecting.
First, Mega, the site hosting the download for their application, reportedly removed the file. Then, on Saturday, apparently due to the forces massed against them, the developers of Popcorn Time said they were shuttering the project.
Popcorn Time is shutting down today. Not because we ran out of energy, commitment, focus or allies. But because we need to move on with our lives.
Our experiment has put us at the doors of endless debates about piracy and copyright, legal threats and the shady machinery that makes us feel in danger for doing what we love. And that’s not a battle we want a place in.
You’d think that would be the end of it, but no. TorrentFreak now reports that Popcorn Time has respawned, this time as a community driven project organized by YTS, a group known for its distribution of movies via BitTorrent downloads.
