When Emon was born his head was only slightly larger than average. But over two years Emon’s whole head has swelled so much that it now weighs around 20lb, the same as an average one-year-old boy. Now the two-year-old is unable to talk, walk or move his body independently but doctors advised his parents that medics abroad could operate to help him. Emon has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, which is the result of a build-up of fluid on the brain. Consequently the excess fluid puts pressure on the brain which can damage it or cause death.
